Business Support in the Vale of Evesham
Evesham Market Town Partnership delivers initiatives designed to encourage inward investment and support businesses already located in the Vale of Evesham. These include business development and support grants, planning application consultation, assistance with site assembly and resources to support major events and promotional activity that encourage overnight stays and additional footfall to the Vale’s attractions.
Business Support Grants
Evesham Market Town Partnership with two of its member organisations, Evesham Town Council and the Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association (VECTA) in association with Wychavon District Council offers a grant scheme which aims to help retain existing and attract new businesses into Evesham and its hinterland. The scheme also aims to create new jobs for the area.
Who can apply?
- The grant is available to retail, hospitality, tourism, and commercial businesses in Evesham and its hinterland;
- An eligible property includes retail, hospitality, tourism and commercial premises but excludes banks, building societies and private residences;
- To be eligible for grant support you must have a current business plan approved by a Business Link adviser;
- Grant funding may not be used to supplement existing costs and overheads nor to promote existing services;
- To receive grant you must be working full-time (36 hours or more per week) in your business;
- The Council reserves the right to recover part or all of the £750 grant provided if:
- Your business relocates outside the boundaries of the Wychavon District within a 78 week period from receipt of the grant;
- Your business ceases to trade for whatever reason.
- You must have all the necessary permissions and licenses to operate your business;
- You must have a clear Council Tax payment record to be eligible for a grant award;
- You must have a business bank account into which your grant can be paid;
- Your application includes a consent giving Wychavon District Council/Evesham Market Town Partnership (EMTP) access to all of the material submitted to the approved business advisor;
- Award of a grant does not imply that the Council/EMTP is expressing a view about your business or its products nor that it accepts responsibility for ant debts or liabilities incurred by you or your business;
- Existing businesses must have been trading for at least 12 months;
- Applications for retrospective grants will not be accepted.
You can apply for a grant of up to £750. The grant scheme has finite funds that will be granted, subject to successful application, on a first come-first served basis. Should the demand for funds be excessive (i.e. more applicants than available funding), then those successful applications to occupy vacant retail premises in Evesham Town Centre will take priority.
How do you apply?
To express an interest in the scheme please contact Jane Dobson on tel: 01386 565278 or email jane.dobson@wychavon.gov.uk. Alternatively you can print an application form by clicking here.
Please note that when an application is submitted it needs to be printed out and signed and sent with your business plan.
When is the grant available?
The grant is available now and is anticipated to run until March 2012 or until funds are exhausted.
Payment of grant
Evesham MTP will pay the grant into your business bank account via BACS within 14 days of receipt of a signed copy of the offer of grant letter.
