Mayor of Evesham’s
Charity Spring Ball
Saturday 1st March, The Public Hall, Evesham
Councillor Alan & Mrs Carolyn Booth (pictured right), Mayor and Mayoress of Evesham hosted a spectacular Ball on 1st March 2008 at the Public Hall, Evesham.
The Ball was attended by local dignitaries, town councillors, local business people and friends and family of the Mayor and Mayoress. Sumptuous ball gowns adorned the dance floor and some male guests dressed in traditional Scottish and Welsh kilts to reflect the Celtic theme of the night.
After a glorious four course meal, supplied by Dawe Caterers, Pinvin, the entertainment started with dancing to music from local band “Factor 3”. The Mayor’s guests bopped away to the 3 piece band that played a range of music from disco to swing.
The entertainment then continued with a magnificent display of Irish Dancing from the McCarthy-Felton School of dancing from Bidford-on-Avon. The young girls gave a fantastic demonstration of different steps to traditional Irish music, culminating in a River Dance Style performance of “The Lord of the Dance”.
Following and auction and raffle, the night continued with dancing to Factor 3.
Councillor Booth commented “It was a fantastic night which drew upon the skills of local companies to entertain and feed my guests. It just goes to show what talent we have here in the Vale."
The profits for the evening, estimated at £3000 will go to the Mayor of Evesham charities: Roundabout, Evesham Volunteer Centre & St John Ambulance.
